Bates Hats Gatsby Cap - Harris Tweed Herringbone Plaid - Chocolate
The Bates Gatsby Cap is a fitted, classic 8-panel button crowned cap constructed out of a Harris Tweed® milled from 100% British Pure Virgin Wool. Harris Tweed is produced in the Scottish Isles using a traditional method for over a century where the shear is "dyed in the wool" to allow for unique characteristics to be revealed when spinning the yarn, and is then woven on a home treadle loom by individual weavers to yield a material completely unique to the roll, weaver, and wearer. This natural wool made with old-world tradition and outstanding comfort comes in a brown and chocolate herringbone twill with an overlay plaid of blue and a rust brown resulting in an amazing pattern with character and depth. The famous Gatsby Cap, also known as the Baker Boy or News Boy Cap, is inspired by turn-of-the-century casual caps worn in both industrial work and leisure activities. The Gatsby has milder proportions while retaining the drape of the originals, allowing for both a practical and historic aesthetic. Bates is known for using the finest weather-resistant woolens designed for premium hats, which come fully lined with custom satin acetate and a satin twill interior banding. With modern iterations steeped in English heritage, Bates represents the best of styling, proportion, fabric, and fit for the Original Gentleman.
