Viberg Bobcat - 2040 - Vibram 2060 – Brown Waxed Flesh

Bobcat - 2040 - Vibram 2060 – Brown Waxed Flesh

The Brown Waxed Flesh Bobcat Boot was taken from an original workboot pattern developed by founder Ed Viberg, which debuted in the 1960’s and is still in production today. While rarely used in the contemporary Viberg collection, it’s one of the earliest adapted styles by Brett Viberg for an excellent combination of woodsman comfort and urban ruggedness that collectors hold as one of their favorite styles. This exclusive-to-Division Road version comes in a dark Brown Waxed Flesh leather produced by Horween in a similar process to Chomexcel, though using a wax application during the tanning process on the roughout side that yields a leather with water-resistant properties designed to patina by revealing the nap of the Marine Field Leather over prolonged use. We utilized the Munson-based 2040 Last with an unstructured toe that slightly lowers the profile while retaining both the military boot silhouette and excellent fit for most foot types. Given the Bobcat's heritage background as a workboot pattern, we used a full grain, fully gusseted tongue in Natural CXL to keep debris and moisture out of the quarter along with the higher quarter with seven antique brass eyelets and a natural midsole for a tonal aesthetic. Finally, we paired this resiliently built Bobcat with the Vibram 2060 sole for all purpose trekking comfort. Fully assembled with stitchdown construction by Viberg's exacting craftsmen, this footwear staple manages to convey both vintage and modern sensibilities.
