The Studio D’Artisan G-003 G3 Series Tapered Slim is produced in the Super Tight Straight fit with a true medium rise and a moderate seat and thigh with a strongly tapered leg and a narrow hem. This jean is made with a unique 14 oz. unsanforized Japanese Selvedge denim produced on one of Japan’s original 50-year-old power looms made by Toyota. This vintage G3 shuttle loom runs at extremely low speeds and requires hand operation to function. It yields a lower tension fabric with heavy slub yarns that have a rough texture like the denims of yesteryear’s workwear, with irregularities that will soften quickly with a unique patina. The jeans are made in SDA’s most popular Super Tight Straight fit with a slightly higher rise to give this low tension fabric some drape in the thigh for those who want a comfortable slim fit. This rare and intricately produced shrink-to-fit denim will develop vintage style fading and form nicely to the body of its wearer after the first wash or soak. Topped off with signature Studio D’Artisan touches like the goat skin leather patch, herringbone twill pocket bags, embossed copper riveting, a nickel plated brass button fly, and a chainstitched waist, seat, and hem, these jeans are your first step on a journey of style presented to you by a 40-year-old producer of heritage denim.

The Studio D'Artisan G-003 is an unsanforized, “Shrink-to-Fit” denim, and we suggest sizing down roughly 0-1 size from your Actual Waist Measurement (Body). Our rule for yielding the best sizing result with unsanforized denim is: Use Our Method to compare your best fitting denim, find the closest match in waist, and then purchase the next size up to account for the natural shrinkage (roughly 1.5” in the Waist and 2” in Length) from the cold soak/rinse process before wearing.
