The English Officer Great Coat by MotivMfg x Division Road from the Royal Cavalry Regiment capsule collection is designed as a meeting point between WWI officer coats and modern tailored outerwear pieces made for the future. This coat is derived from WWI British Great Coats and the WWII US Army Mackinaw overcoats, re-created in an anatomically tailored fit with set-in sleeves and a center middle back pleat to allow for movement with a design-centric approach and buttoned tab to adjust the drape in an outstanding fabric that will naturally outlast any generation or future war. Providing a substantial form in a cut perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary, this coat is made from a 30 oz. Fox Brothers® British Warm Churchill Overcoating pulled from the military archives from its use in officer coats as early as 1914, now woven in Fox's 200 year old original Somerset mill using the finest 100% British Wool for a highly worsted suiting grade fabric engineered for the outdoors in a stepped twill weave and single brushed finish to combat the elements with a sophisticated aesthetic. Since 1772, Fox Brothers has produced top tier textiles used in a multitude of applications, from Savile Row tailoring to British Military garments. By sourcing the best fibers from around the world and using intensive hand-driven milling and cording processes, they produce fabrics of the highest grade with comfort, density, and durability all wrapped into one. This English Officer Great Coat is designed with a double breasted front and buttoned shawl collar to combat weather with styling and functional versatility, along with a washed Bemberg and featherwale cotton corduroy body and sleeve lining, resulting in a finely finished and comfortable winter coat with optimal drape and practical refinement. Paying homage to the originals with a finished sophistication, this coat has beautifully shaped flap front patch pockets that tuck in for easy access in stormy conditions, and three interior buttoned pockets for carrying various armaments. Further, this coat is packed with superior bespoke and old world detailing like tab button cuffs, taped and felled seams, zigzag back collar stitching, bartack reinforcements throughout, and genuine natural corozo buttons that have been polished for a vintage finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the west. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer completely exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

Based in a Beijing loft of a former factory built in the 1950s, all developments from sketch to garment are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods...
