Description

The English Hunt Work Jacket by MotivMfg x Division Road is designed as a meeting point between tailored and dutiful industrial-era blazers used as workwear and countryside hunting jackets. This piece is derived from 1920s sack jacket patterns and redesigned in an anatomically tailored fit with a single back piece folded into shape to provide structure and form. Created in the same type of durable material that epitomized the originals, the cut of this jacket is perfectly balanced between vintage and contemporary. Made in a heavy-duty 12 oz. Herringbone Twill 100% Irish Linen, this piece is garment overdyed to a Dusty Chestnut in a two-stage process using reactive and low water dyes to produce a distressed finish and fabric that will patina and evolve to the shape of the wearer. This luxuriously dutiful, textured, and sophisticated Linen is produced by Ireland's prized Spence Bryson® mill, established in 1891 and remaining the gold standard, which uses only the highest quality flax fibers and traditional wet spinning methods to yield refined, high-density yarns for warm weather tailoring fabrics revered by designers for their durability, structure, and featherweight feel. This English Hunt Work Jacket is designed with a rolling 5-button front to allow for dress-to-outerwear versatility, function, and style with a Tencel/linen blend twill half-lined body for a structured shape and optimal drape, along with Bemberg lined sleeves and a functional button cuff for practical refinement. Paying homage to the originals with sophistication, this jacket has beautifully shaped and utilitarian pocketing like a patch front chest pocket, two front welted patch pockets with flaps that will tuck in for different formats and functions, along with three interior buttoned canvas patch pockets for the tools of your trade. This piece is packed with superior bespoke and old-world detailing like felled seams, zigzag back collar stitching, bartack reinforcements throughout, and genuine horn buttons that have been sanded to a unique, vintage matte finish. MotivMfg has re-established a pattern-to-bespoke garment, one-roof workshop in Beijing with the ethos, process, techniques, and materials of Savile Row to produce historically informed garments in styles and production methods lost by the West. We are honored to partner with MotivMfg to offer completely exclusive collaborations for a new and timeless uniform for the Division Road Army.

    About MotivMfg

Created in Beijing by Daniel Gu and Samuel Wei in 2016, MotivMfg seeks to break down the duality between handmade and machine-made clothing. Based in the converted loft of a former 1950's factory, all developments, from sketch to garment, are done within the MotivMfg studio. Using European tailoring methods dating back to the 1920’s, all patterns are hand drafted then implemented with drape and baste fittings on real life models, ensuring the spontaneity of creativity.
