The De Bonne Facture x Division Road Brown Houndstooth Harris Tweed Overshirt is inspired by the stylistic themes of line, form, and material core to the French modern architectural movement of the late 1920’s by using natural fibers in a neutral palette to evolve timeless wardrobe pieces that are a hybrid between tailoring and workwear made with traditional workshop craftsmanship. With a focus on sustainability connecting the garment to the landscape, this collaboration Overshirt is made from a 14 oz. Harris Tweed® loomed in the Scottish Isles from 100% British Virgin Wool using a traditional method for over a century where the shear is "dyed in the wool" to allow for unique characteristics to be revealed when spinning the yarn in this collections' tan, brown, and gold palette. To create a vintage aesthetic with a pure provenance, we utilized this houndstooth patterned woolen that is woven on home treadle looms by individual weavers to yield a material completely unique to the roll, weaver, and wearer. With a minimalist design approach, each element carries thematic consistency and purpose with details like set-in sleeves and a classic silhouette that allows for movement and layering, full lining in a cotton/viscose blend for the body and sleeves to provide a luxurious and finished feel, buttoned flap front patch chest pockets and side seam lower hand pockets for carrying and convenience, and high character genuine horn buttons utilized on the front placket and cuffs for rich refinement. Paying homage to the classic military issue CPO shirt from the early 1930's onward, this piece is atelier made in Bagnolet, France by outerwear specialist M.
