Viberg Derby Shoe - 2020 - Dainite - Chestnut Essex
Description
The Chestnut Essex Derby Shoe is designed from unearthed original patterns produced by Viberg's founder, Edwin Viberg. True to the original half-century old vision, but improved with several iterations on the pattern and now in its final adaptation with a lower quarter, improved fit, and French Binding, this well refined version is about as perfect as it can get. As part of Viberg's seasonal release, this limited production comes in a Chestnut Essex Leather from Horween, a vegetable tannage that uses the same traditional extracts as Horween's Cordovan with a high oil and fat content, in hides that are hand-glazed with an aniline finish to enhance a supple surface on a hearty leather with a natural, glove-like feel. This shoe is molded on the 2020 Cantilever Last that grips and hooks with the anatomical shape of the foot to provide a comforting fit in a sophisticated silhouette. To make an elevated Derby for the well-traveled, vintage-inspired modern man, this style boasts a tonal leather French binding and blind eyelets. For a balanced composition with a robust build, this shoe comes with the outdoor-ready natural leather 360 storm welt and midsole atop a British made Dainite sole to provide wet to dry traction in an elegant design that leverages Goodyear welting using traditional techniques coupled with channeled insoles. Each step is carefully executed by exacting Viberg craftsmen, making it a perfect lifetime piece for those looking for a Derby Shoe in a collectable classic with a distinctive style that will evolve for the modern-leaning and vintage-inspired alike.
