Semi-Dress 350 - C461 - Split Commando - CF Stead Urban Brown Re-Tan Waxed Kudu

$825.00

Description

The White's x Division Road CF Stead Urban Brown Re-Tan Waxed Kudu 350 Semi-Dress is a 6" exclusive pattern based on the original and shorter Depression-era boots worn by store clerks and factory workers that were designed to face the challenge of week-in, week-out wear required in the 1930s. This adapted Semi-Dress pattern comes with the signature quarter shape with a stitched-in counter and backstay, yet has been evolved with an integrated pull loop and added height to provide function and durability for the workshop or outdoors while remaining appropriate for daily duty in a modern world. This White's collaboration uses a Division Road exclusive Urban Brown Waxed Kudu produced by the storied C.F. Stead, known for making some of the finest leathers in the world. These vegetable-tanned, hand-selected wild African Kudu antelope hides are remarkably flexible and strong and have distinct grain characteristics that are aniline dyed. This leather is then uniquely re-tanned with oil for a higher degree of pull-up and darker color profile and is enhanced with a subtle wax application that yields a matte finish and an added layer of protection. This boot is designed in collaboration with Master Shoemaker and now CEO Eric Kinney to hallmark the quintessentially Northwest stitchdown construction tradition using White's unique hand-sewn and all-leather builds with our functional design approach that honors the original craftsmanship, history, and lifetime durability with a fresh perspective. This Semi-Dress uses the archival C461 Last in an accommodating E width for a relatable fit for various feet. This vintage work boot Last has an upturned sprung toe with a moderate profile and width throughout and trademark mid-heel height Arch-Ease support, yielding a sophisticated logger aesthetic on a fully functional boot. We exclusively enhanced White's hand-sewn welted methods with a tonally corresponding Brown CXL welt to match the brown stained and finished leather midsole and logger heel that emphasizes their unique approach to making lifetime work boots. A multi-paneled upper allows for comprehensive rebuilds, and a Commando Split sole with a heavy lug heel provides high traction and longevity in all terrains, combined with a single-row hand-sewn stitchdown to allow for greater flexibility, comfort, and a clean aesthetic for the long haul. Finally, this exclusive Semi-Dress comes with a full vegetable-tanned leather lining, an outdoor-purposed fully gusseted tongue, oxidized eyelets, and a leather pull loop finished with a custom White's collar stamp and WB x DR collaboration insole stamp. Made as a hallmark of White's unaltered, hand-sewn traditions and customized to Division Road specifications, this 350 Semi-Dress has a polished aesthetic for urban environs, built for all outdoor conditions.

    Notes

This is a hand-sewn, hand-welted stitchdown workwear boot made to withstand a lifetime in challenging conditions, with a focus on durability first. Irregularity is indicative of this rare boot-making process, and as such, each pair is unique. We suggest our customers embrace the character, hand-grade details, and variation of this footwear, as that is what makes it special. This product is not for those seeking a highly refined or lighter-weight build. For more information on White's production, see our White's Factory Tour.

    Sizing

White's sizing is consistent with our old-grade manufacturers, and the C461 Last typically is equal to a White's 55 Last, Viberg, or Tricker's for most feet. Generally, when sizing for White's, we suggest you select a half (.5) size down from a common US boot like Red Wing or Alden or one-and-a-half (1.5) sizes down from a common US sneaker like Nike or New Balance.

    About White's

The White’s legacy began in 1853 when Edward White created a solo boot making venture in pre-Civil War Connecticut shoeing loggers and soldiers. His son, John, briefly took his master craft to the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia in 1880 before relocating the business in 1900 to the Pacific Northwest where it remains today. In 1910, John’s son Otto grew the family business into the White Shoe Company based in Spokane, Washington. The White family built a reputation for producing... View All White's Products
